Bed Mapping; Critical for Electrical Field Testing

Throughout the day, we are constantly going in and out of (EMFs). Whether at work, out in public, at a friend’s home, or in our own home, it is hard to escape the presence of electrical fields, magnetic fields, and radio frequency radiation (RF). But when it’s time to turn in for the night, the bedroom must be free of any EMFs if we are desiring good health and well-being.

The electrical system within our home is a man-made alternating current (AC). This type of current is foreign to our bodies. On the other hand, natural direct current (DC), is generated from the earth and doesn’t disturb our human bio-system.

Alternating current oscillates or vibrates, affecting the cells in our bodies. This type of current influences our bodies in various ways: It obstructs the body’s ability to rebuild itself and detoxify. It hampers melatonin production, which interrupts proper restful sleep needed for the next day.

Mitigating electrical fields at the bed is an effective way to combat these problems. One way of measuring and mitigating these electrical fields is to do a 9-point bed-mapping.  When we do a mapping of the bed, we measure at 9-points of the bed to see the strength of the electrical fields. This is measured in volts per meter V/m. The data log below (left side of chart in pink) shows the electrical fields at a past client’s bed in those 9-point areas. This is what it looked like when they hopped into bed for the night.

When I turned off the breakers at the electrical service panel that were affecting my client’s bedroom, the electric fields dropped significantly (right side of chart in green). The chart on the right side is within the Building Biology no anomaly standards. In this particular test, there were three circuits affecting my client’s bedroom.

After evaluating which solutions to implement, a circuit cutter switch was installed at the electrical panel. This allowed the client to remotely shut off those three circuits at their bedside without having to access the electrical panel. This solution allowed electrical circuits not affecting the bedroom to stay on.

A Word of Caution

There can be many circuits that run in the floors, walls, and ceilings that affect the bedroom. This is why someone cannot just read the labels on the panel and assume that it is the only circuits00 affecting the bedroom. Also, sometimes you can turn a circuit off and the electrical fields will increase in the bedroom. This is because we have two legs of power (phases) in our incoming electrical service panel. One circuit can induce a voltage onto another circuit wiring if the opposite phase is 180 degrees out of phase.

At Holistic Dwellings, bed mapping is standard protocol in an EMF assessment. As the client assists in this procedure, they experience firsthand how electrical circuits are affecting their bedroom.
